Comrade Afangide acknowledged the numerous challenges facing Akwa Ibom State, including severe hunger, systemic and structural inequalities, disparities in access and opportunities, and suppression of human rights and dignity.

Despite these challenges, he pledged to remain steadfast in the commitment to promote and protect the rights of all individuals, without distinction of any kind.

The new State Chairman urged all members to embrace the organization’s mantra: “See Human Rights Abuses, Say No, Do Justice” (SSD).

He emphasized the need to see injustice and corruption with an eagle’s eye, say no to oppression and inequality, and do justice by promoting human dignity and rights.

Comrade Afangide recognized the contributions of past leaders, including Comrade David Akpan, Comrade Princewill Akpakpan, and the founding fathers of CDHR.

He expressed gratitude to distinguished guests, friends, and partners for their presence and shared passion for human rights.

As the organization moves forward, Comrade Afangide outlined several key objectives, including leaving no one behind, fostering a culture of critical thinking and constructive engagement, promoting inclusive participation and grassroots empowerment, advocating for policies prioritizing human well-being and dignity, and collaborating with like-minded organizations to amplify their impact.

The ceremony concluded with a call to action, as Comrade Afangide urged all members to rise to the challenge, reignite the flame of activism, and write a new chapter in the history of CDHR, Akwa Ibom State Branch.

With the assumption of new leadership, CDHR Akwa Ibom State Branch is poised to continue its vital work in promoting and protecting human rights in the state.
