Chinese Consulate Partners IoDCCG on Capacity Building Exchange Programmes, 2024 National Corporate Governance Summit

The IoD Centre for Corporate Governance (IoDCCG) has announced a new partnership with the Chinese Consulate aimed at enhancing capacity building exchange programs and organizing the 2024 National Corporate Governance Summit.

During a recent visit to the Chinese Consulate in Lagos, Chairman Urum Eke, along with members of the Board of Governors and Management, discussed the importance of promoting good corporate governance practices in Nigeria.

The Chairman highlighted the Center’s mission to provide governance training, conferences, and services to promote global best practices in corporate and government entities.

With the increasing presence of Chinese businesses in Nigeria, the collaboration aims to extend capacity building initiatives to these businesses and equip them with the necessary tools to succeed in the Nigerian business landscape.

The Chairman also shared plans for the upcoming National Corporate Governance Summit, which will focus on raising awareness and enhancing knowledge of corporate governance principles and practices.

The Summit aims to create a sustainable pathway for the nation’s economic development and growth by emphasizing the importance of corporate governance in both the private and public sectors.

The IoDCCG team also introduced the Ethics 1st Platform to the Consulate, which helps organizations conduct business ethically and connect with the global business community.

The platform, in partnership with the Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), USA, promotes corporate governance and business integrity standards at no cost to organizations.

The Consulate was encouraged to support Chinese companies in Nigeria to sign up for the Ethics 1st Platform and participate in the training program to achieve green category listing.

In response, Consul General Yan Yuqing expressed appreciation for the visit and highlighted the strong diplomatic relationship between China and Nigeria. She accepted the invitation to attend the National Corporate Governance Summit and discussed potential business opportunities in Nigeria.

The Consulate will extend invitations to the IoDCCG leadership for various Chinese programs and events, fostering further collaboration between the two organizations.

The visit concluded with a group photograph and an exchange of gifts, symbolizing the beginning of a friendship and partnership between IoDCCG and the Chinese Consulate.

This partnership is expected to create more opportunities for IoDCCG to fulfill its mandate and promote ethical and professional behavior among board members and management in Nigeria.
