Caribbean Countries Explore Cement and Fertilizer Production Partnerships with Dangote

The Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell, has praised the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals as a significant investment in industrialization and manufacturing, crucial for the growth of developing countries.

Mitchell, who is also the Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), expressed his admiration during a tour of the Dangote Petroleum refinery and Petrochemicals complex in Lagos.

Mitchell commended the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, for his remarkable vision, stating that the investment is a testament to Dangote’s leadership and commitment to Africa’s growth.

He emphasized the need for business leaders like Dangote who are willing to invest in Africa, particularly in manufacturing and industrialization.

Mitchell highlighted the importance of reversing the cycle of exporting raw materials and importing finished products from developed countries.

He believes that partnerships between the Caribbean and Africa, such as the one with Dangote Group, can help achieve this goal.

Mitchell mentioned that the Caribbean community is interested in developing partnerships in areas such as refinery, cement, and fertilizer production with Dangote Group to enhance its economy.

Aliko Dangote described the visit as symbolic, noting that many Caribbean countries are beginning to discover crude oil and are exploring opportunities to build their own refineries.

He emphasized that the company is looking for partnerships in the Caribbean not only in petroleum products but also in cement and fertilizer production.

The Dangote Oil Refinery is the largest single-train refinery in the world and is designed to process a wide variety of crude oils.

The refinery conforms to Euro V specifications and meets stringent standards set by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other regulatory bodies.

With a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the refinery can satisfy 100% of Nigeria’s demand for petrol, diesel, kerosene, and aviation jet fuel, with additional surplus available for export.

The refinery’s sophistication and automation have impressed leaders, and its team of young professionals has inspired optimism for Nigeria’s future.

Dangote’s collaboration with the Caribbean Community marks a significant step towards fostering economic growth and development in the region.
