The reception of Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday drew a massive crowd and spotlighted growing political momentum around governorship aspirant Abdulrahman Bashir Haske ahead of the 2027 election.
The event, held at Ribadu Square, attracted thousands of party supporters, stakeholders, and political leaders from across the state.
The gathering marked a significant moment in Adamawa’s political landscape, with observers describing the governor’s defection as a strategic alignment with the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC’s national leadership.
Amid the celebrations, Haske emerged as a standout figure, receiving enthusiastic support from attendees. His arrival triggered chants and cheers from supporters, particularly youth groups, with placards and slogans expressing confidence in his leadership prospects.
Political observers at the event noted that the spontaneous show of support reflects Haske’s growing influence among grassroots supporters and the youth demographic.
He is widely known for his community engagement through the AB Haske Foundation, which focuses on empowerment initiatives across the state.
While the event primarily celebrated Fintiri’s entry into the APC, analysts said the attention drawn by Haske signals increasing interest in his potential candidacy as discussions begin to shape the 2027 governorship race.
Speaking on behalf of President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima welcomed Fintiri and his supporters into the ruling party, describing the development as a positive step for the APC.
Also speaking, APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, presented the party’s flag to the governor, commending his leadership and urging him to strengthen the party’s presence in Adamawa.
He further encouraged Fintiri to consolidate support and attract members from other political parties.
In his remarks, Haske commended the party leadership for promoting unity and pledged to work with stakeholders to deliver democratic dividends to the people of Adamawa.

With political consultations intensifying ahead of the 2027 governorship election, analysts say the developments at Ribadu Square point to a growing call for a new generation of leadership in the state, with Haske increasingly featuring in the conversation.
