In his new role, Ibietan has pledged to work with the Executive Council to continue the reforms in APRA and promote greater participation of national public relations institutions across Africa.
He also aims to collaborate closely with the African Union Commission and Council of Ministers to integrate public relations into policy and project implementation.
With over 20 years of experience in media and communication, Ibietan holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the North-West University in South Africa and is a certified regulation specialist.
He is a member of various communication organizations and serves as a faculty member at the Rome Business School in Nigeria.
At the conference, Ibietan presented a paper on digital inclusion and its role in accessible public relations, highlighting the Nigerian Communications Commission’s efforts in this area.
He argued that digital inclusion is essential for building a digital economy and enhancing public relations strategies.
The theme of this year’s APRA conference is ‘One Africa, One Voice: Bridging Africa’s Communication Divide’, emphasizing unity and collaboration among African nations.
The event is supported by the Government of Côte d’Ivoire and major global PR associations.
APRA, established in 1975, aims to promote unity and communication among Africans and their global allies. The organization plays a crucial role in fostering relationships and exchange of ideas across the continent.
