APRA Condemns Burkina Faso Terror Attack, Raises Alarm on Mpox Outbreak in DRC and Sudan Flooding

By Barnabas Esiet.

The African Public Relations Association (APRA) has strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Burkina Faso, which resulted in significant loss of life and injury to many others.

In a statement signed by the Secretary-General, Omoniyi Ibietan, APRA expressed deep concern about the increasing frequency of terror attacks in Burkina Faso and other parts of Africa, calling for an immediate cessation of such attacks.

APRA emphasized the need for dialogue as a more effective and civil approach to resolving conflicts, rather than resorting to violent attacks that lead to destruction and devastating consequences.

The Association also highlighted the importance of addressing the root causes of these conflicts to prevent further devastation.

In addition to the terror attack in Burkina Faso, APRA expressed concern about the spread of mpox in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the recent flooding in Sudan.

The Association noted that these humanitarian crises have overwhelmed the continent and that entrenched terror attacks only exacerbate the challenges facing Africa.

APRA called for increased collaboration and concrete actions among state actors and stakeholders to address these challenges.

Specifically, the Association urged the World Health Organization (WHO) to strengthen its collaboration with the government and people of DRC to combat the mpox outbreak.

APRA expressed solidarity with the governments and people of Burkina Faso, DRC, and Sudan, commiserating with those who have lost loved ones, and wishing those injured and displaced a speedy recovery.

The Association emphasized the need for a comprehensive and collaborative approach to addressing the complex challenges facing Africa, including terror attacks, health crises, and natural disasters.
