The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has made history by hitting ₦1 trillion in revenue collection, a landmark achievement ahead of completing the first half of 2025.
The Command’s ₦1 trillion revenue collection shows surpasses expectations more than 45 days before the end of the first half report of activities.
Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, the Customs Area Controller, attributed this remarkable feat to the strategic leadership of Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi’s effective blocking of revenue leakages, and diligent discharge of functions by officers.
Olomu expressed confidence that the Command is poised to surpass the ₦2.3 trillion collected in 2024, given its strong performance so far.
Olomu commended officers for their hard work and urged them to maintain their momentum, focusing on maximum revenue collection, suppressing smuggling, and facilitating legitimate trade.
He emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing, interagency collaboration, and stakeholder engagement to drive operational efficiency and support the nation’s economic development goals.
The Command is deploying a Unified Customs Management System, popularly known as B’Odogwu, which has shown promising prospects for higher productivity.
Ongoing training for licensed Customs agents and freight forwarders will further enhance trade facilitation and compliance.
The Apapa Customs Command has a track record of excellence, having won several awards for revenue collection, including the CGC Award of Excellence. Comptroller Olomu was recognized as the Best Controller of the Year for his exceptional leadership.
