The Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Europe has publicly distanced itself from the alleged fraudulent activities carried out by an individual named Godwin Ibe, who has been falsely representing himself as NIDO Russia and spreading misinformation to deceive the public.
During a virtual meeting, the Chairman of NIDO Russia and member of the Board of NIDO Europe, Sampson Uwem-Edimo, announced the organization’s decision to disassociate from the fraudulent actions of Godwin Ibe.
He emphasized that NIDO Russia has never authorized this individual to act on its behalf and that he has never been a member of the organization.
Uwem-Edimo stated, “We cannot be held responsible for statements made by someone who falsely claims to represent us.
“We have taken legal action to prevent this individual from using our name and operating a website that misleads the public.”
He urged the press in Nigeria and Russia to be cautious and not be misled by Godwin Ibe’s false representation of NIDO Russia as ‘Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Russia’.
Dr. Ayo Ojajune, the First Chairman of NIDO Russia and Board Member, affirmed that the organization is aware of those behind the fraudulent activities and is taking steps to address the situation.
Dr. Bashir Obasekola, the Continental Chairman of NIDO Europe, expressed disappointment over the situation and called on the Nigerian press to ignore fake news.
He emphasized the need to uphold the organization’s integrity and reputation in order to continue progressing positively.
