Aliko Dangote Foundation Launches Massive Food Relief Program

In a massive effort to alleviate hunger and poverty, the Aliko Dangote Foundation has launched the 2025 Annual National Food Intervention Project, distributing one million bags of rice worth N16 billion across all 774 local governments in Nigeria.

This initiative aims to provide sustenance and relief to over one million vulnerable Nigerians, with each recipient receiving a 10kg bag of rice.

According to Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, this project reflects the foundation’s commitment to supporting communities in line with its core values.

“Food remains a basic human necessity, and this is why we adopted the practice of embarking on a food distribution programme across the states,” he said.

The foundation has collaborated with state governments to ensure that the food reaches the most vulnerable individuals in each state.

In Kano State alone, 120,000 bags of rice will be distributed across 44 local government areas.

Governor Abba K. Yusuf of Kano State praised Dangote’s commitment to addressing poverty and hunger, describing him as “humane” and highlighting his previous efforts in distributing food to the poor.

The Aliko Dangote Foundation has a history of philanthropic efforts, including donating N153 million to combat Ebola in 2014 and N2 billion to the CACOVID Fund during the COVID-19 pandemic.
