Truck Parks Embrace NPA’s E-Call Up System in Onne

Truck park owners in Onne, Rivers State, have welcomed the Nigerian Ports Authority’s (NPA) Electronic Call-Up System, aimed at ending persistent gridlock at the Eastern Port axis.

The system is expected to restore order, enhance port efficiency, and safeguard investments in the trucking and logistics value chain.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Port Consultative Council (NPCC), Onne Chapter, Godwin Ololuke, announced that preparations have been concluded for the electronic call-up system along the Onne Port corridor.

The initiative aims to regulate the movement of trucks within and around the port area, ensuring safety for all stakeholders.

Truck drivers and logistics officials have praised the e-call-up system as a welcome development.

A truck driver, Johnbull Igbikiowubo, emphasised the importance of cooperation among stakeholders to ensure the system’s success.

An official of Waterhouses Marine and Logistics Limited, Olumide Ibitolu, attributed the current disorder to efforts to register trucks under the new system.

The Electronic Call-Up System is expected to improve safety, reduce congestion, and enhance the overall efficiency of the port.

By regulating truck movements, the system will also help protect nearby residents, including schoolchildren.

The NPA’s initiative is seen as a step towards promoting a more organised and productive port environment.
