Change of Leadership: Outgoing Customs Area Controller Apapa Port Command Bids Farewell

The outgoing Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Apapa Port Command, Dr. BO Olomu, has bid farewell to stakeholders, officers, and men of the command after serving for 15 months.

Dr. Olomu was elevated to the rank of Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG) and has handed over the reins of the command.

During his tenure, Dr. Olomu achieved significant milestones, including:

– Record-breaking revenue collection: The command collected over ₦1.834 trillion in revenue for the year 2025, with notable single-day collections of ₦17.9 billion, ₦18.2 billion, and ₦18.9 billion.

– Trade facilitation and modernization: The command implemented trade facilitation reforms, modernized operations, and enhanced Nigeria’s participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

– Anti-smuggling efforts: The command made 75 seizures of various items, including fake, expired, and substandard medicaments, controlled drugs, and other prohibited items.

Dr. Olomu emphasized his open-door policy and commitment to stakeholder engagement, ensuring easy interaction and addressing trade impediments. He appreciated the support of stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector operators, and the media.

He thanked God Almighty, the Comptroller-General of Customs, and all stakeholders for their support during his tenure. He also appreciated sister agencies for their collaboration and requested continued support for his successor.

Dr. Olomu’s tenure has laid a solid foundation for the command’s continued success, and he is optimistic that his successor will build on the achievements to surpass the 2025 revenue target of ₦3 trillion.
