Zenith Bank to Launch Maiden Girl-Child Empowerment Programme

Zenith Bank Plc is set to launch its maiden Girl-Child Empowerment Programme on October 12, 2026, to equip young girls with the knowledge, confidence and skills needed to pursue their aspirations and prepare for future opportunities.

The virtual event, themed “Banking On Her Tomorrow,” is the initiative of the bank’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dame Dr Adaora Umeoji, OON, the first female to lead Zenith Bank.

Scheduled for 11 a.m., the programme will hold a day after the global celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child on October 11.

According to the bank, the initiative will bring together experts from various fields to inspire girls, provide practical insights into education and career development, and expose participants to opportunities in skills acquisition, mentorship and leadership.

Designed as an annual platform, the programme will also encourage girls to recognise their potential, broaden their ambitions and make informed decisions about their future.

The initiative builds on Zenith Bank’s commitment to women’s empowerment through programmes such as its annual International Women’s Day Seminar, sponsorship of the Zenith Women’s Basketball League, the Women of Honour Awards in partnership with the Ford Foundation, and the Pad-a-Queen Initiative.

The bank also operates the Z-Woman initiative, which supports women-owned and women-led businesses through specialised funding, capacity building and networking opportunities.

Zenith Bank said these initiatives reflect its broader commitment to supporting women and girls at different stages of their lives and contributing to national development.

The maiden edition of the Girl-Child Empowerment Programme is open to the public, with girls, parents, educators and other interested participants invited to attend virtually.

Participants can register through the designated registration link, while those unable to join via Zoom can watch the event live on the bank’s social media platforms.
