Kwairanga Hails Issuing Houses for Driving Nigeria’s Capital Market Growth

The Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group), Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga, has commended the Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria (AIHN) for its contributions to capital mobilisation and economic development over the past 30 years.

Kwairanga gave the commendation on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the AIHN 30th Anniversary Awards Night and Dinner in Lagos.

He said members of the association had played a critical role in mobilising funds for the Federal Government, sub-national governments and corporate organisations, describing their contribution to the Nigerian economy as significant.

According to him, issuing houses have led several capital-raising exercises that supported the recapitalisation of banks and insurance companies, while also helping governments at different levels finance their development and governance objectives.

“On a regular basis, you raise funds that keep companies and the economy running, and your impact cannot be underestimated,” he said.

The NGX Group chairman said the Exchange recognised the important role played by the Association of Issuing Houses in the development of Nigeria’s capital market.

He assured the association of NGX Group’s continued willingness to collaborate with it in advancing the capital market.

Kwairanga also congratulated the AIHN on attaining three decades of operation, describing the anniversary as an opportunity to celebrate the association’s achievements and recognise individuals and organisations that had made outstanding contributions to the association and the wider capital market.

He congratulated the award recipients and urged them to build on their achievements and contribute even more to the growth of the sector.
