The +234Art Fair is gearing up to showcase the works of over 200 artists at the Ecobank Pan African Centre. The 2,000 square meter venue will host the exhibition for 10 days starting on Friday, March 22nd.
Curated by Soto Gallery in collaboration with Ecobank and Africa Finance Corporation, the +234Art Fair aims to support emerging artists by providing them with a platform to gain recognition and generate income through art sales both locally and internationally.
Founder of Soto Gallery, Tola Akerele, explained that the title of the exhibition, ‘A New Heritage,’ signifies a comprehensive exploration of contemporary regional art and its connection to the broader art community in Africa and beyond.
The event seeks to celebrate Nigerian art from the past to the present, fostering a sense of pride and purpose among emerging artists. It raises important questions about the identity of Nigerian artists and the heritage that influences their work.
Ecobank Nigeria’s Managing Director, Bolaji Lawal, promised an exciting and fulfilling experience for both artists and art enthusiasts. The fair will serve as a focal point for art lovers and provide emerging artists with opportunities to showcase their work on a global scale.
President & CEO of Africa Finance Corporation, Samaila Zubairu, encouraged the public to attend the fair to benefit from the diverse art pieces, art-centric bookstore, children’s area, VIP lounge, culinary delights, and engaging masterclasses and workshops.
Overall, the +234Art Fair promises to be a vibrant and enriching experience for all attendees, highlighting the talent and creativity of Nigerian artists while promoting African art on a global stage.
