Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen.

Barely few months to the 2023 General Elections, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has sacked his Chief of Staff, Ephraim Inyangeyen.

Inyangeyen, a former Customs Officer who hails from the same Onna Local Government Area as the governor, is believed to be one of the top financiers of the Udom Emmanuel’s election as governor in 2015 and was subsequently appointed Commissioner for Works, before being re- asigned as the Chief of Staff to the Governor in his second tenure in Office.

A statement by the state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Ini Ememobong, quoting from the sack letter by the Secretary to the Akwa Ibom State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, reads in part.

“Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen has been relieved of his office as the Chief of Staff to the Governor. The announcement is contained in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, dated 22nd February, 2022 addressed to the former Chief of Staff.

“The letter reads in part “On behalf of His Excellency, the Governor, government and the good people of Akwa Ibom State, I write to convey to you His Excellency, the Governor’s profound appreciation of the worthy contributions you made to the development of our dear State while you served as Chief of Staff to the Governor.

“However, given the urgent need to match skill set and competencies to the task of maintaining the momentum of economic development in peace, your services are no longer required and you are hereby relieved of your position, as Chief of Staff ( CoS) to His Excellency, the Governor with immediate effect.”

Recall that Inyangeyenrecently went to his LGA to campaign as a Senatorial candidate for the upcoming 2023 elections, the act which many believed might have angered his former boss, Governor Udom Emmanuel, who ordered his sack with immediate effect.
