DataPro Cites Robust Earnings, Upgrades Dangote Cement to AA+

Technology-driven credit rating agency, DataPro, has upgraded the long-term credit rating of Dangote Cement Plc from AA to AA+, citing the company’s sustained financial strength, resilient operating performance and market leadership across Nigeria and Africa.

In its latest rating report, DataPro also affirmed Dangote Cement’s short-term rating of A1, with a stable outlook. The ratings are valid until June 16, 2027.

According to the agency, the upgrade reflects the company’s strong financial position, healthy earnings, robust liquidity, sound corporate governance, regulatory compliance and the sustainability of its financial performance over the medium to long term.

DataPro said the rating was further supported by Dangote Cement’s strong brand, dominant market share, solid asset base and experienced management team, which continue to strengthen its ability to meet financial obligations despite prevailing macroeconomic and industry challenges.

The rating agency highlighted the company’s outstanding financial performance in 2025, reporting revenue of N4.31 trillion, a 20 per cent increase over the previous year.

Profit before tax also rose by 109 per cent to N1.53 trillion, driven by strong revenue growth, improved operational efficiency, lower finance costs and a stronger capital structure.

Explaining the ratings, DataPro said the AA+ long-term rating signifies lower risk, reflecting excellent financial strength, operating performance and business profile relative to its rating benchmarks.

It added that the A1 short-term rating indicates good credit quality and demonstrates the company’s satisfactory capacity to meet its short-term financial commitments as they fall due.

DataPro noted that the rating has a maximum shelf life of 12 calendar months in line with international best practices.

The agency, however, clarified that the rating should not be construed as an offer to trade in securities or as a substitute for investors’ independent judgment, stressing that it is intended solely for reference purposes.
