The Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE) has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden death of Sylvester Enoghase, the Business Editor of Independent Newspapers, describing his passing as a significant loss to the media industry and Nigeria’s private sector advocacy community.
In a statement issued by the Chief Executive Officer of CPPE, Dr. Muda Yusuf, the organisation said it received news of Enoghase’s demise with profound shock and sadness.
According to the statement, Enoghase was not only a respected journalist but also a committed advocate for private sector development whose work helped promote greater understanding of economic policies, reforms, and business-related issues among the public.
The CPPE noted that throughout his career, the late journalist demonstrated professionalism, diligence, humility, and a strong passion for economic development.
It added that his consistent coverage of issues affecting businesses contributed significantly to public discourse on enterprise growth and investment in Nigeria.
Dr. Yusuf said Enoghase’s unwavering support for private sector advocacy, coupled with his warm personality and dedication to business journalism, earned him widespread respect among colleagues, policymakers, and members of the organised private sector.
“His passing is a painful loss, not only to the media profession but also to all who are committed to the cause of enterprise, investment, and economic progress in Nigeria,” the statement said.
The CPPE further stated that it would deeply miss Enoghase’s friendship, encouragement, and invaluable contributions to its advocacy efforts over the years.
The organisation extended its condolences to the deceased’s family, the management and staff of Independent Newspapers Nigeria Limited, and members of the Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria (CICAN).
CPPE prayed for God’s comfort for all those affected by the loss and for the peaceful repose of the late journalist’s soul.
