Nestlé Nigeria Hosts Summit on Nutrition, Sustainable Food Systems

Nestlé Nigeria PLC has convened stakeholders across government, healthcare, academia, development organisations, civil society, and the private sector at the Nestlé for Good Summit 2026 aimed at advancing nutrition, community development, and sustainable food systems in Nigeria.

The summit, held in Lagos, brought together key policymakers and industry leaders to discuss collaborative solutions to Nigeria’s evolving nutrition, public health, and food system challenges.

Among dignitaries present at the event were Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Folashade Bada Ambrose-Medebem, and Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi.

Discussions at the summit focused on improving nutrition outcomes across different life stages, strengthening local food systems, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and enhancing environmental sustainability through strategic partnerships.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Nigeria PLC, Wassim Elhusseini, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to creating shared value through sustainable business practices.

According to him, Nestlé’s purpose is centred on improving quality of life through food while building resilient systems across its value chain.

“At Nestlé, we are guided by a simple but powerful purpose: to unlock the power of food to enhance quality of life for everyone, today and for generations to come,” Elhusseini said.

He added that delivering quality food at scale requires strong systems spanning responsible sourcing, manufacturing, distribution, livelihoods, capability development, and environmental sustainability.

The summit also featured conversations on the role of collaboration between the public and private sectors in addressing interconnected challenges relating to nutrition, livelihoods, and sustainability.

Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability Lead at Nestlé Nigeria PLC, Victoria Uwadoka, alongside Patricia Ekaba, Head of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability for Central and West Africa, participated in the stakeholder engagements.

Nestlé said the “Nestlé for Good” platform is designed to provide a more connected expression of the company’s impact initiatives across nutrition, community support, and sustainable food systems development in Nigeria.
