APC Chairman Empowers 1,400 Youths with Tools, ₦280m Grants in Plateau

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has empowered over 1,400 young Nigerians with tools and financial grants under the Renewed Hope Scale-Up Programme.

At an empowerment event held in Jos, Plateau State, Yilwatda supervised the distribution of 727 sets of equipment aimed at supporting small businesses.

Items distributed included tricycles, sewing machines, welding and carpentry toolboxes, catering sets, POS machines with startup capital, and phone repair kits powered by solar systems.

In addition, beneficiaries received a total of ₦280 million in grants across different categories, ranging from ₦100,000 to ₦1 million, to boost enterprise development.

Speaking at the event, Yilwatda said the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda’s focus on job creation, poverty reduction, and economic inclusion.

He noted that the programme represents both a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future and a continuation of his longstanding grassroots empowerment efforts.

He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve, reaffirming his commitment to connecting Nigerians with economic opportunities.

Yilwatda also highlighted the Federal Government’s broader economic plans, including infrastructure development such as rail expansion, new seaports and airports, and major road projects aimed at boosting trade and productivity nationwide.

He urged beneficiaries to take entrepreneurship seriously, assuring them of continued support through institutions like the Bank of Industry and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council to access financing and export opportunities.

The Plateau State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Josephine Piyo, who represented the governor at the event, commended the initiative, describing it as a demonstration of impactful leadership and a boost to grassroots development.

She encouraged beneficiaries to use the resources responsibly, expressing confidence that the programme would nurture future business leaders.

The Renewed Hope Scale-Up Programme is part of ongoing efforts by the APC to promote youth empowerment and inclusive economic growth across the country.
