The Dr. Cairo Ojougboh Foundation has reinforced its commitment to supporting government efforts in advancing education in Nigeria with a ₦2.7 million intervention for students in Delta State.
The Foundation, established in honour of the late medical doctor and former member of the House of Representatives, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, organised a special programme at St. Columba’s Grammar School, Agbor, headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area, themed “Your Future, Your Choice.”
At the event, the Foundation presented a cheque of ₦2,700,000 to cover examination fees for students preparing for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC), the National Examination Council (NECO) examination, and the Junior Secondary School (JSS) 3 examinations.

In addition to the financial support, the Foundation rewarded outstanding academic performance with cash gifts to the best students across the school’s nine academic arms. Notebooks and other writing materials were also distributed to enhance learning.
Speaking at the event, Chairperson of the Foundation, Bose Ojougboh, said the initiative was aimed at giving back to the institution that played a pivotal role in shaping the life and values of the late Dr. Ojougboh.
She urged students to remain focused and hardworking, stressing that challenges should be seen as stepping stones rather than obstacles.
According to her, discipline, consistency and intentional decision-making are critical to achieving success both academically and in life.
Ojougboh, accompanied by her sons, Nkem Ojougboh and Orieka Ojougboh, encouraged the students to take responsibility for their future, noting that every choice they make contributes to the outcome of their lives.
The event also attracted members of the Old Boys Association of St. Columba’s Grammar School, led by Elder Ndudi Agholor. The alumni reflected on their time at the institution and commended the current leadership for sustaining its standards of excellence.
In separate remarks, the school principal, Rev. Fr. Joseph Ugboh, and the Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, Jerry Ehiwarior, praised the Cairo Ojougboh family and the Foundation for what they described as a commendable and impactful initiative.
They urged the Foundation to sustain the programme as a meaningful way of preserving the late lawmaker’s legacy.
They expressed appreciation for the support, noting that the gesture had inspired and motivated students to work harder towards achieving their goals.

The programme concluded on a hopeful note, with students expressing renewed determination to make positive choices about their academic and personal futures.
