Media Engagement Key to Successful National Single Window Launch – MARCON President

The President of the Maritime Correspondents’ Organisation of Nigeria (MARCON), Ismail Aniemu, has emphasised the crucial role of journalism in strengthening Nigeria’s maritime sector.

Speaking in Lagos recently at the All Nigerian Maritime Journalists Retreat, with the theme: ‘Maximising Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Import and Export Trade,’ Aniemu highlighted the importance of well-informed reporting in supporting major government policies, particularly the National Single Window Project, set to launch in the first quarter of 2026.

The project is expected to transform import and export procedures, manufacturing, revenue systems, and logistics operations across the country.

Aniemu noted that Nigeria’s strategic position as a central hub for West and Central Africa makes its economic growth significant to the region.

The retreat aims to equip journalists with the knowledge needed to support the nation’s development goals and promote informed maritime journalism.

Aniemu reaffirmed MARCON’s commitment to advancing the future of Nigeria’s maritime industry through impactful reporting.

The event brought together key industry figures to discuss emerging technologies, policy development, and sector-wide modernisation.

With the National Single Window Project on the horizon, stakeholders are optimistic about the potential benefits for the nation’s economy and maritime sector.

MARCON’s efforts are expected to play a significant role in promoting public awareness and understanding of the project’s objectives and benefits.
