The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, is leading in the Anambra governorship election held on Saturday.
Results from the 19 local governments declared so far, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), shows the former Nigeria’s Apex Bank Governor wining in 17 of them.
Meanwhile, Punch reports that election results in two local governments of the state, Ihiala and Orumba North have not yet been announced by INEC as officials at the collation centre in Awka have declared that no election was held in Ihiala LGA while the result for Orumba North LGA is being contested.
According to the results announced by INEC, APGA leads in 17 LGAs, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Young Progressives Party (YPP) have each won in just one LGA while Andy Uba’s All Progressives Congress (APC), is yet to win any local government.
Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party won in Ogbaru LGA while Ifeanyi Ubah of Young Progressives Party has the highest number of votes in Nnewi North LGA. Soludo leads in Dunukofia, Awka South, Oyi, Ayamelum, Anaocha, Anambra East, Idemili South, Onitsha South, Njikoka, and Orumba South as well as Onitsha North, Aguata, Idemili North, Ekwusigo, Nnewi South, Awka North, Anambra West.
