The Managing Director of DataPro Limited, Abimbola Adeseyoye, has emphasised the importance of credible institutions, productive investment and sustained investor confidence in achieving Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy ambition.
Adeseyoye, represented by Victoria Balogun, a Senior Rating Analyst at DataPro, made the observation at the 2026 Annual Conference and Awards of the Finance and Business Online Publishers Association (FiBOP) in Lagos.
The conference, themed “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, Insurance, Fintech, Trade and Investment as Catalysts for Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Vision,” brought together stakeholders across government, finance, business, insurance, technology and the media to discuss strategies for accelerating economic growth.
Adeseyoye described the theme as timely and significant, noting that it aligned with the focus of DataPro’s recently concluded 2026 International Rating Webinar, which examined “Sovereign Credit Rating: Africa’s Roadmap to Investment Grade Status.”
According to him, both initiatives recognise that Nigeria’s economic transformation requires more than ambitious targets.
“It requires the right policies. It requires credible institutions, productive investment and sustained confidence in our economy,” he said.
Credit Ratings Can Boost Investor Confidence
The DataPro managing director explained that credit ratings were particularly relevant to discussions about economic growth because they provide independent assessments of creditworthiness and help investors understand the risks associated with lending to governments and businesses.
He said credible ratings could support investment decisions by providing information that enables investors to assess risks and make informed choices.

He noted that strengthening confidence in the economy would be important to attracting the capital required to expand businesses, develop infrastructure and improve productive capacity.
Key Sectors for Economic Transformation
Adeseyoye also highlighted the importance of the sectors identified in FiBOP’s conference theme, describing them as essential components of a diversified and resilient economy.
He said efficient taxation and stronger public revenue mobilisation could improve the government’s capacity to finance development, while industrial expansion could increase productive capacity and create jobs.
According to him, insurance plays an important role in business risk management, helping enterprises manage potential losses and protect their operations.
He added that fintech could deepen financial inclusion by expanding access to financial services, while trade and investment could broaden market access and stimulate economic activity.
The interaction among these sectors, he suggested, would be important to building an economy capable of sustaining growth and attracting long-term investment.
Commends FiBOP, Congratulates Award Recipients
The DataPro chief executive commended FiBOP for creating a platform for discussions on financial and economic issues, as well as efforts to improve public understanding of developments in the economy.
He also congratulated the award recipients, noting that the recognition reflected their contributions to their respective fields.

The FiBOP conference forms part of efforts to encourage dialogue among policymakers, regulators, business leaders, investors and media professionals on practical approaches to Nigeria’s economic development.
