The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commenced the final phase of its 2025 recruitment exercise, with shortlisted candidates undergoing documentation, physical fitness tests and medical screening at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The two-week exercise, which began on Monday, September 7, 2026, is scheduled to end on September 19 and covers candidates shortlisted for the Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASCII), Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres.
To ensure an orderly process and prevent congestion, the candidates are being screened in batches based on the alphabetical order of their states of origin.
The Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs in charge of Human Resource Development, Frank Onyeka, urged candidates to demonstrate discipline and professionalism throughout the exercise.
Onyeka, who spoke on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs, congratulated the candidates for reaching the final stage of the recruitment process, stressing that the Service would assess their character and conduct alongside their physical fitness.
He urged them to comply strictly with the screening guidelines and maintain order at the centre.
According to him, “Beyond physical requirements, your attitude, discipline, and conduct are critical factors in deciding who ultimately joins the Service.”
He added that the NCS was working with the Customs Police and other relevant units to ensure the integrity and security of the recruitment exercise.
The Commandant of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Dow Gaura, said administrative improvements and collaboration among relevant agencies had helped to make the exercise seamless.
Gaura said the process reflected the Comptroller-General’s emphasis on continuous operational improvement, collaboration and innovation.
He described the exercise as “seamless, hitch-free, and conducted without any casualties.”
Screening for candidates under the Assistant Superintendent of Customs cadre is scheduled to conclude on Thursday, September 10, while the assessment of candidates in the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres will continue until September 19, 2026.
