Yilwatda Urges Cross River to Break Voting Record, Re-elect Tinubu in 2027

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has urged the people of Cross River State to surpass their previous electoral records by delivering massive votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Yilwatda made the call at the APC presidential campaign rally in Calabar, the state capital, where he joined Vice President Kashim Shettima and other party leaders and stakeholders to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election.

The APC chairman commended Cross River residents for their impressive turnout and warm reception at the rally, describing their enthusiasm as evidence of growing support for the President and his Renewed Hope Agenda.

He, however, challenged the electorate to translate the massive turnout into votes, saying the 2027 election presents an opportunity for the state to strengthen its position in Nigeria’s political and economic development.

Yilwatda said Cross River was strategically positioned to emerge as a major economic hub under the Tinubu administration, citing its geographical location, commercial potential and maritime opportunities.

He explained that the Federal Government’s infrastructure development agenda, particularly the revival of rail transportation, development of seaports and proposed nationwide superhighway network, would create significant economic opportunities for the state and the wider South-South region.

According to him, the projects are designed to improve connectivity, facilitate the movement of goods and people, reduce transportation costs, attract investments and generate employment.

“For Cross River State, the opportunities are enormous. An efficient rail network will improve the movement of people and goods, while functional seaports can expand maritime commerce, create jobs and open new opportunities for businesses.

“A modern highway network will further connect ports, production centres and commercial cities, integrating the state more effectively into Nigeria’s expanding economic landscape,” he said.

The APC national chairman described infrastructure development as a critical pillar of Tinubu’s economic reform agenda, noting that improved transportation and connectivity would enable states to maximise their economic potential, attract private investment and contribute more significantly to national development.

He urged Cross River residents to consider the long-term benefits of policy continuity, infrastructure investment and ongoing economic reforms beyond the immediate excitement of political campaigns.

Yilwatda also called on APC members, party leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, youths and women to intensify grassroots mobilisation to ensure that the party’s message reaches every ward and community across the state.

He stressed that achieving the party’s electoral ambition would require unity, effective organisation and sustained engagement with voters.

The APC chairman expressed confidence that Cross River would play a significant role in the party’s anticipated victory in 2027, adding that a renewed mandate would enable the Tinubu administration to deepen ongoing reforms, accelerate infrastructure development and expand economic opportunities for Nigerians.

He consequently urged residents to convert the enthusiasm demonstrated at the Calabar rally into overwhelming electoral support for Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The statement was signed by Abimbola Tooki, Special Adviser to the APC National Chairman on Media and Information Strategy.
