2027: APC Targets Maximum Votes in Rivers as Yilwatda Praises Tinubu

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has described the Tinubu-Shettima presidential ticket as one of the most formidable political combinations in Nigeria’s democratic history, urging Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Yilwatda said a second term for Tinubu would enable his administration to consolidate ongoing economic reforms and infrastructure development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He made the call on Saturday at the Rainbow Coalition Presidential Campaign Rally held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where Tinubu was received by party supporters, political stakeholders and members of the coalition from across the state and the South-South region.

The rally formed part of the APC’s nationwide mobilisation for the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the APC chairman said the Tinubu-Shettima ticket represented a combination of political experience, courage, capacity and tested leadership needed to steer Nigeria towards sustainable economic growth.

He described Tinubu as a fearless and courageous leader who had demonstrated the political will to confront longstanding structural challenges facing the country.

According to Yilwatda, the President inherited serious fiscal and economic difficulties, including unsustainable fuel subsidy expenditure, revenue constraints and mounting financial obligations.

He argued that the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of the foreign exchange market and other economic adjustments were necessary steps towards rebuilding the economy and strengthening public finances.

Although acknowledging the difficulties associated with the reforms for households and businesses, Yilwatda said the administration was implementing economic stabilisation measures, social interventions and infrastructure investments to cushion their effects.

The APC chairman also highlighted the Federal Government’s infrastructure programme, particularly major highway projects designed to improve connectivity, facilitate trade and reduce transportation costs.

He maintained that the projects would open up economic corridors, stimulate agriculture and industrialisation, and promote national integration.

“We have a President who understands that development cannot happen without infrastructure. He has initiated an ambitious infrastructure revolution through major highway projects that will connect different parts of Nigeria, open up economic corridors, facilitate the movement of goods and services and create new opportunities for our people,” he said.

Yilwatda urged Nigerians to remain committed to the Renewed Hope Agenda, arguing that continuity would allow the administration to consolidate its reforms and deliver greater economic benefits.

He described Tinubu as a reformer and performer whose leadership vision prioritised national development over political convenience.

On the political situation in Rivers State, the APC chairman expressed satisfaction with what he described as growing support for Tinubu’s re-election across party lines.

He commended members of the Rainbow Coalition and other political stakeholders for supporting the President, saying their decision reflected a recognition of the importance of political cooperation and continuity.

“Come 2027, we want to continue with this reformer and performer as our President. That is why the coalition and the people of Rivers State, irrespective of political party, have decided to work together for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

Yilwatda expressed confidence that Rivers State would deliver overwhelming votes for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

He specifically acknowledged the mobilisation capacity of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and other political leaders, predicting that their combined influence would strengthen the President’s electoral prospects in the state.

“Come January 2027, Rivers State will stand still. With the mobilisation capacity of the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, and other political leaders and stakeholders, we are confident that Rivers will deliver maximum votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

He added that the APC was optimistic that consolidating the administration’s reforms would create wider prosperity and improve the living conditions of Nigerians.

The national chairman expressed confidence that the party and its coalition partners would secure another mandate for Tinubu in 2027.
