The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has a new Registrar of Ships, following the approval of the appointment of Barrister Adenike Adeyele Iyelolu by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
The appointment, which is for a four-year tenure, was made on the recommendation of NIMASA’s Director General, Dr. Dayo Mobereola.
Iyelolu, a Deputy Director at NIMASA, is an accomplished legal and maritime governance professional with over 25 years of post-call experience.
Her expertise spans maritime and legal practice, arbitration, procurement, contract administration, corporate governance, and institutional leadership.
As Registrar of Ships, Iyelolu will report directly to the Director General, overseeing the effective administration of the Nigerian Ship Registry. This appointment is in line with the NIMASA Act 2007.

Iyelolu succeeds Tajudeen Giwa, who retired after years of commendable service. The new Registrar’s appointment is expected to further enhance the agency’s efficiency and effectiveness in managing the nation’s maritime interests.
