Fidelity Bank Plc has donated large-capacity recycling bins to Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos, to promote environmental sustainability and responsible waste management.
The donation was made during the 19th edition of the Walk for Nature event, themed “Lagos, Let’s Beat Plastic Pollution,” organized by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) in collaboration with the Lagos State Government.
The Divisional Head, Brand and Communications, Fidelity Bank Plc, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to driving environmental consciousness and sustainability through consistent advocacy and impactful community initiatives.
He emphasised the importance of adopting eco-friendly lifestyles and reducing dependence on single-use plastics.
The Chairman, National Executive Council, NCF, Hon. Justice R.I.B. Adebiyi, noted that plastic pollution remains one of the most pressing environmental challenges globally.
She said that the Walk for Nature event aims to raise awareness and promote sustainable waste management practices among young people.
The Special Adviser on Environment, Lagos State Government, Engr. Olakunle Rotimi-Akodu, highlighted the significance of collaboration in addressing plastic pollution.
The Rector of YABATECH, Dr. (Engr.) Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul, thanked Fidelity Bank and the Lagos State Government for the donation, stating that the recycling bins will promote a culture of sustainability among students.
The initiative is part of Fidelity Bank’s ongoing environmental awareness and sustainability efforts. The bank has integrated sustainability into its business and community impact programs, including recycling partnerships, tree planting campaigns, and environmental beautification projects.
