Federal Government Denounces PENGASSAN Over Dangote Refinery Dispute

The Federal Government has criticized the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) for holding the nation hostage over a labor dispute at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized the critical importance of the refinery, stating that it must be supported at all costs to succeed.

Shettima described the $20 billion refinery as a national asset that must be protected and preserved for the interest of Nigeria.

He urged caution, retrospection, and patriotism from both labor and the organized private sector in defining and improving their relationship.

The Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE) has also urged the government to establish a policy framework to prevent the unlawful shutdown of businesses in the country.

CPPE CEO Muda Yusuf emphasized that protecting investors is a national economic imperative.

Meanwhile, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his timely intervention in averting the disruptive actions of PENGASSAN against the company.
