FirstBank Denies Allegations of Fraud, Calls Claims “Unfounded and False”

FirstBank of Nigeria has issued a statement denying allegations of fraud made by a customer, Dr. Agbai Eke, in a recent publication by Thisday Newspaper and Arise Television, as well as a circulating video. The bank claims that the allegations are entirely unfounded and false.

According to FirstBank, their findings indicate that Dr. Eke was involved in unprofessional and unethical dealings with a former bank employee, using a personal relationship to facilitate unauthorized transactions outside the bank’s knowledge or involvement.

The matter is currently before the court, and FirstBank has refrained from further comment to allow the court to determine the issues.

The bank has also filed a report with law enforcement agencies for further investigation, and suspects have made useful statements during the ongoing investigations.

FirstBank reassures its stakeholders that it operates with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism, committed to transparency, accountability, and protecting its customers’ interests.
