CBN Governor Meets Saudi Ambassador, Discusses Economic Partnership

In a bid to bolster economic cooperation, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, has reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to strengthening ties with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This development comes on the heels of a courtesy visit by the Saudi Ambassador to Nigeria, Faisal bin Ibrahim Alghamdi, and his delegation to the CBN headquarters.

Cardoso emphasized the CBN’s dedication to fostering partnerships across critical sectors that drive economic growth, noting that the Bank is prepared to play a crucial role in fostering collaboration between the two nations.

He stated, “The Central Bank of Nigeria remains committed to advancing partnerships that will deepen economic ties between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. We will continue to explore opportunities that yield tangible benefits for both countries.”

The Saudi Ambassador expressed his country’s interest in expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in renewable energy, agriculture, and water connectivity.

He emphasized the Kingdom’s readiness to work with Nigeria in these key economic sectors, stating, “We are eager to strengthen our relationship with Nigeria and explore mutually beneficial opportunities that will contribute to the prosperity of both nations”.

This visit marks another milestone in Nigeria-Saudi relations, as both countries seek to leverage their respective strengths for long-term economic growth and stability.

The CBN Governor also commended the Saudi government for its hospitality during the recently concluded AIUla event, hosted by the Saudi Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Regional Office in Riyadh.
