The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Niger/Kogi Area Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inter-agency security cooperation as part of efforts to tackle emerging security threats and protect lives and property.
The Acting Customs Area Controller, Niger/Kogi Area Command, Deputy Comptroller Solomon Nwankwegu, gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, on November 3, 2026.
The visit was aimed at consolidating the existing relationship between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Police Force while exploring opportunities for improved operational collaboration, intelligence sharing and coordinated responses to security challenges.
Speaking during the engagement, Nwankwegu highlighted the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing prevailing security threats, particularly in the areas of border security, intelligence gathering, crime prevention and the protection of lives and property.
He noted that no security agency could effectively tackle security challenges in isolation, stressing the need for sustained collaboration, mutual support, timely intelligence exchange and coordinated operations among relevant security institutions.
The Customs chief maintained that stronger partnerships among security agencies were essential to addressing emerging threats and strengthening national security.
In his response, the Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, appreciated the visit and expressed the Police Command’s readiness to deepen its existing partnership with the Nigeria Customs Service.
He said such collaboration was critical to promoting public safety, effective law enforcement and national security.
The engagement, according to the Customs Command, further highlighted the importance of institutional cooperation, professional understanding and a united security front in addressing threats to peace and stability in Niger State and beyond.
The Niger/Kogi Area Command reiterated its commitment to working closely with sister security agencies in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities, particularly in strengthening national security, promoting economic stability and safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

The statement was signed by Abubakar Abdulkareem Zakariya, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I and Command Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Acting Customs Area Controller.
