Alleged Murder, Organ Harvesting: CDHR Demands Justice for Late Gideon Emmanuel

By Newsshelve Correspondent.

A petition has been submitted to the Inspector General of Police by the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Akwa Ibom State branch, alleging the gruesome murder and organ harvesting of one Gideon Anietie Emmanuel.

According to the petition, Gideon, a resident of Benin City, Edo State, died under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2024, after being taken to “Our Medical Clinic” by a vigilante.

The petition alleges that the doctor in charge of the clinic, Sunday Oladapo Elusoji, harvested Gideon’s kidney and spleen without consent.

The petition signed by Comrade Ndifreke Afangide, Akwalbom State CDHR branch Chairman, chronicles a series of events that led to Gideon’s death.

According to the petition, Gideon’s father received a call from his daughter on September 11, 2024, at about 12:17 am, informing him that Gideon had been involved in an accident and was taken to the hospital.

The petition alleges that the vigilante, who claimed to have taken Gideon to the hospital, gave conflicting accounts of the incident.

The vigilante initially told Gideon’s father that he was the one who took Gideon to the hospital, but later changed his story, claiming that four persons, including one wearing an Army cap, took Gideon to the hospital.

The petition also alleges that Doctor Elusoji gave conflicting accounts of Gideon’s treatment. The doctor initially told Gideon’s father that Gideon had internal bleeding in the stomach, which led to the surgery and removal of the kidney and spleen. However, the doctor later claimed that the kidney was still functional.

The CDHR is demanding immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding Gideon’s death, arrest and prosecution of Doctor Elusoji and the vigilante, as well as the immediate closure of “Our Medical Clinic”.

The petition also alleges that the Edo State Police Command collected N130,000 from Gideon’s family for arrest and fuel but failed to carry out a thorough investigation.

The CDHR has expressed concerns about the handling of the case by the police and the alleged complicity of Doctor Elusoji. The organization is calling for justice for Gideon and his family.

“We stand firm and resolute in our pursuit of truth and accountability. We demand immediate action from the authorities to ensure that justice is served.” Comrade Afangide said in a statement.

The case has sparked outrage and concern among human rights activists and the general public. The CDHR has vowed to continue to push for justice for Gideon and his family.

As the investigation continues, the CDHR is calling on the authorities to take immediate action to address the allegations of murder, organ harvesting, and police complicity.

The family of Gideon Anietie Emmanuel is still grieving and seeking justice for their loved one. The CDHR has assured them that they will continue to fight for justice and accountability.

“We will not rest until justice is served. We will continue to push for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable.” The Akwaibom CDHR Chairman said.

The case of Gideon Anietie Emmanuel has highlighted the need for greater accountability and transparency in the Nigerian healthcare system.

It has also raised concerns about police complicity and the need for greater oversight and accountability within the police force.

As the investigation continues, the CDHR is calling on the authorities to take immediate action to address the allegations of murder, organ harvesting, and police complicity.

The family of Gideon Anietie Emmanuel deserves justice, and the CDHR will continue to fight for their rights.
