Lagos Road Project: President Tinubu Praises Dangote for Oworonshoki-Apapa Expressway Reconstruction

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed the recently completed Oworonshoki-Apapa Expressway as a marvel of engineering, dubbing it the Tenth Wonder of the World.

He lauded Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Limited, for his dedication in bringing the project to fruition.

Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, President Tinubu emphasized the significance of the 37-kilometer road, which was initiated in 2018 and finalized in 2024, as a victory for all Nigerians.

He stressed the importance of Lagos State as a benchmark for progress that benefits the entire country.

“Lagos is a home for all, and I express my gratitude to Aliko Dangote for spearheading this initiative in collaboration with HiTech to deliver the Tenth Wonder of The World,” President Tinubu stated.

He also extended congratulations to Minister of Works David Umahi for his unwavering commitment to infrastructure development nationwide.

Dangote, reflecting on the deplorable state of the highway prior to its rehabilitation in December 2018, highlighted the adverse impact it had on goods transportation and market access, causing disruptions in various industries.

He credited the successful completion of the project to the collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Utilizing the framework of Executive Order 007 in Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme, Dangote Group mobilized resources for the comprehensive refurbishment and expansion of the Apapa-Isolo-Oworonshoki road to 10 lanes.

Dangote emphasized the Group’s dedication to national progress and prosperity through transformative initiatives.

Engr Umahi commended Dangote Group for delivering a high-quality project, noting the road’s durability and the value it adds to the region.

He also announced President’s approval of a ban on sand excavation near bridges to enhance their longevity.

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, expressed gratitude to Dangote and HiTech for their exceptional work on the road, which has significantly reduced travel time and improved connectivity in the area.

He highlighted the positive impact of the project on businesses and residents in the region.

In conclusion, the collaborative efforts of public and private sectors in infrastructure development have set a precedent for future projects aimed at enhancing national growth and prosperity.
