The newly elected President of the Nigeria Union of Agriculture and Allied Employees (NUAAE), Comrade Obafemi Oyenubi, has pledged to work hand in hand with President Bola Tinubu to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians due to the increasing inflation in the country.
Oyenubi, formerly the treasurer of the National Transition Committee (NTC) of the union, was recently chosen as the president of the Union at an extraordinary conference held in Abuja.
Speaking to reporters after his election, the NUAAE’s national President emphasized that the new leadership of the agricultural union is committed to collaborating with President Tinubu’s administration to reduce hardship in Nigeria by ensuring the availability of food and controlling prices.
He stated, “Our commitment is to support President Bola Tinubu’s government in promoting large-scale food production, providing effective extension services, and offering off-takers for farm produce with proper storage facilities.”
Oyenubi highlighted that the union plans to engage foreign investors to provide modern farming equipment such as harvesters, sprayers, planters, chemicals, and tractors at subsidized rates to local farmers to enhance commercial farming activities for both exports and domestic consumption.
Additionally, the union is in talks with several state Governors to facilitate the smooth distribution of mechanized tools as support to boost farmers’ crop production.
“We will also collaborate with banks to offer soft loans to genuine farmers to increase crop production for exports in the country,” he added.
Under his leadership, Oyenubi assured that the union will welcome more unions in the agricultural sector that are not currently under the NUAAE umbrella to unite them with a common goal.
He urged disgruntled members of the union to come together, as his administration is set to introduce policies that will steer their activities in the right direction. Oyenubi also promised to prioritize the welfare of members by engaging the federal government in providing hazard allowances.
The newly elected executives of NUAAE include Anedi Ekpo as Deputy President 1, Amechi Victrus as Vice President South East, Baba Kaura as Vice President North Central, Ime Akpadia as Vice President South South, Saidat Abubakar as National Women Coordinator, and Cmr. Adamolekun Ebenezer as Trustee 1.
Others in leadership roles are Ibrahim as Vice President North West, Frank Osierhiekhi as National Auditor, Robert Robert as Ex-officio 1, Eric Ogiefa as General Secretary, and Chapi Paul as Treasurer.
