The Minister of Innovation Science and Technology, Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, has urged manufacturers to adopt new technology, innovation, and partnership to enhance productivity.
Nnaji made the call at the Nigeria Manufacturing and Equipment/Nigerian Raw Materials (NME/NIRAM) Expo 2025, themed “Accelerating Sustainable manufacturing through cutting-edge equipment and technology solutions.”
The minister emphasized that innovation and technology are crucial to Nigeria’s progress and prosperity.
He noted that by embracing technology, manufacturers can reduce costs, increase efficiency, and develop products that meet evolving market demands.
Nnaji also highlighted the importance of teamwork across government, business, and the wider community to address challenges facing the manufacturing sector.
The minister urged industry operators to harness innovations and strategies presented at the expo to better respond to local demands and position themselves strategically in the global marketplace.
He also called for strong partnerships between government, industry, and the wider community to drive economic growth and investment.
Nnaji assured manufacturers of government support, citing initiatives such as tax incentives and research funding to promote local technology and encourage industries to add value to Nigerian raw materials before export.
For Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Folashade Ambrose, who represented the Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwoolu, the occasion marks a point of growth in Nigeria as we are building on the opportunities and technological adoption in the manufacturing sector.
“It is pertinent that we harness innovative strategies, cutting-edge technologies and sustainable practices in order to maintain our growth.” She noted.
The President of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Francis Meshioye, noted that the exhibition is about exploring opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and sustainable practices that can propel the manufacturing industry into a future of resilience and prosperity.
