Key regulators, business leaders and market operators are set to converge in Lagos for the 2026 annual conference and awards of the Finance and Business Online Publishers Association (FiBOP), with discussions expected to focus on pathways to achieving Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy target by 2030.

The two-day event is scheduled for October 17 and 18 at Orchids Hotel, Lekki, Lagos, under the theme, “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, Insurance, Fintech, Trade and Investment as Catalysts for Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Vision.”

Confirmed participants include the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) and Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group).

Their participation is expected to provide perspectives on taxation, revenue mobilisation, trade facilitation, capital formation, investment, insurance, digital connectivity and the growth of Nigeria’s digital economy.

The conference will be chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), Dr Muda Yusuf, who is expected to contribute private-sector and economic policy perspectives to the discussions.

NGX Group Chairman, Dr Umaru Kwairanga, will also participate in the conference, with discussions expected to cover capital market development, investment mobilisation, market liquidity and financing opportunities for business expansion.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Director-General of the SEC, Dr Emomotimi Agama, are also among the confirmed participants.

The event is expected to attract representatives of banks, insurance companies, fintech firms, trade groups and investment institutions, alongside policymakers, regulators, investors, businesses and media professionals.

Chairman of the FiBOP Conference Organising Committee, Barnabas Esiet, said the programme would feature plenary sessions, interactive discussions and networking opportunities for stakeholders across the public and private sectors.

The FiBOP Awards will form part of the highlights of the event, recognising individuals and institutions for contributions to economic development, financial innovation and business growth.

President of FiBOP, Charles Onwuatogwu, commended the institutions that have confirmed their participation, describing their involvement as important to sustaining dialogue among government, the private sector and the media.

Onwuatogwu called for wider stakeholder participation, stressing that achieving the $1 trillion economic ambition would require cross-sector collaboration, concrete policies, investment and institutional partnerships.
