Several leading government agencies, financial institutions and corporate organisations have thrown their weight behind the 2026 SUPERNEWS Local Content Conference and the media organisation’s 10th anniversary celebration scheduled to hold on July 7 at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Among the organisations supporting the event are the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigeria LNG (NLNG), Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Stanbic IBTC Holdings, Leadway Assurance Company Limited, Guinea Insurance Plc, Universal Insurance Plc and Ugooafunwa Investment Company Ltd.
Speaking ahead of the conference, the Publisher of SUPERNEWS Nigeria and convener of the event, Ngozi Onyeakusi, expressed appreciation to the organisations for their confidence in the conference and their commitment to promoting discussions that support national development.
According to Onyeakusi, the support from the institutions reflects the growing relevance of the annual SUPERNEWS conference as a platform for policy dialogue, stakeholder engagement and the promotion of excellence across key sectors of the Nigerian economy.
She particularly commended Nigeria LNG and Leadway Assurance for their consistent support of the conference over the years, while also acknowledging the contributions of other organisations and individuals that have partnered with SUPERNEWS Nigeria.
The conference, themed “Local Content & Digitisation: Building Synergy Between Oil & Gas and Insurance Sectors for Inclusive Growth,” will be chaired by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Universal Insurance Plc, Dr. Jeff Duru, while the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Royal Exchange Plc, Mrs. Idu Okeahialam, will deliver the keynote address.
The event is expected to attract regulators, industry operators, chief executives, policymakers, civil society groups, media practitioners, students and other stakeholders.
Onyeakusi noted that the conference has, over the years, evolved into one of Nigeria’s respected platforms for discussing economic issues, recognising excellence and strengthening collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders.
She added that this year’s edition is particularly significant as it coincides with the 10th anniversary of SUPERNEWS Nigeria, marking a decade of dedicated journalism, credible reporting and advocacy across the financial, insurance, oil and gas, and telecommunications sectors.
As part of the anniversary celebration, outstanding organisations will be honoured for their achievements in innovation, regulation, leadership and service delivery.
Reflecting on the milestone, Onyeakusi described the anniversary as a celebration of resilience, professionalism and sustained commitment to responsible journalism.
She said the occasion would not only celebrate the organisation’s achievements over the past decade but also reaffirm its commitment to policy advocacy and creating platforms that encourage constructive dialogue for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
Stakeholders from across various sectors are expected to converge in Lagos for the conference, which is anticipated to provide robust discussions on local content, digital transformation and inclusive economic growth, while also celebrating excellence in corporate leadership and public service.
