US Issues Security Alert Over Possible Terrorists Attack In Abuja

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has warned of the possibility of terror attacks in in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.

The US gave the warning in a statement by its Embassy in Abuja on Sunday listing likely targets of attacks to include; government buildings, places of worship, schools and markets.

The statement read in part,  “There is an elevated risk of terror attacks in Nigeria, specifically in Abuja.

“Targets may include, but are not limited to, government buildings, places of worship, schools, markets, shopping malls, hotels, bars, restaurants, athletic gatherings, transport terminals, law enforcement facilities, and international organisations.”

The statement advised Abuja residents to avoid all non-essential travel or movement and to stay alert.

“Avoid crowds, review your personal security plans and keep your cell phone charged in case of emergency. Carry proper identification.”

Meanwhile, the Embassy said its services in Nigeria will remain skeletal until further notice.
