Zenith Bank Plc has strengthened its commitment to financial inclusion with the inauguration of a new branch in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, becoming the first commercial bank to establish operations in the community.
The branch was officially commissioned on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at a ceremony attended by Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, senior government officials, traditional rulers, business leaders, customers, and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Governor Oborevwori described the opening of the branch as a strong endorsement of Delta State’s growing economic prospects and investment-friendly environment.
According to the governor, Zenith Bank’s decision to expand its presence in the state demonstrates confidence in the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure, stimulate economic growth, and enhance the ease of doing business.
“This is a clear vote of confidence in the economic potential of our state. It shows that the investments we have made in infrastructure, economic development, and ease of doing business are producing tangible results,” he said.
The governor noted that the new branch holds particular significance for residents of Okpe Local Government Area, as it is currently the only bank operating within the council area.

“The significance of this bank to our people cannot be overemphasised because of the impact it will have on the economy of this local government,” he added.
In her remarks, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank, Adaora Umeoji, expressed appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for supporting private sector growth and creating an enabling environment for investment in the state.
She specifically acknowledged the governor’s donation of the land on which the branch was built, describing it as evidence of his administration’s commitment to attracting investment and promoting economic development.
Umeoji said the establishment of the Osubi branch reflects the strong partnership between Zenith Bank and Delta State, adding that the bank remains committed to expanding access to quality financial services in underserved communities.

She described the new facility, Zenith Bank’s 19th branch in Delta State, as a milestone in the bank’s longstanding relationship with the state.
According to her, the branch will provide individuals, businesses, women entrepreneurs, and small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) with access to innovative banking solutions, financing opportunities, and capacity-building initiatives.
She further stated that the new branch is expected to stimulate economic activities in Osubi and neighbouring communities, while contributing to the broader socio-economic development of Delta State and Nigeria.
The opening of the branch marks another step in Zenith Bank’s ongoing efforts to deepen financial inclusion and extend banking services to previously underserved communities across the country.
