The Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, has commended the Armed Forces and other security personnel for their dedication in securing the country.
Adedeji disclosed that the FIRS has met its 2025 tax revenue target for the oil and gas sector, attributing the success to the maintenance of peace in the Niger Delta area.
The FIRS chairman stated that the increase in tax revenue from oil production activities is a result of the peace maintained in the region, leading to greater profits for oil companies and higher tax revenue for the Federation.
He emphasized that prosperity can only be achieved in an atmosphere of peace, stressing the critical importance of stakeholders in the security sector.
Adedeji pledged to support the successful hosting of the forthcoming African summit for Chiefs of Defence Staff to be hosted by Nigeria in Abuja.
He thanked the Armed Forces for their good job in maintaining peace and safety, saying, “We will always be open to collaborate in order to sustain peace, to increase prosperity and develop our dear nation.”
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, commended the FIRS management team for rallying resources for the country to meet its needs and fund the operations of the Armed Forces.
He expressed gratitude to the FIRS for its support, saying, “Over the years, you have made our job a lot easier… We have seen that revenue has increased, and we can see new initiatives being introduced that are also making a very positive impact.”
