Nigeria Customs Service Intercepts N3.2 Billion Worth of Prohibited Items at Apapa Port

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Apapa Command has made a significant seizure of prohibited items worth N3.25 billion at the Apapa Port.

The seized items include unregistered pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, used clothing, and two stolen vehicles from Canada.

According to Comptroller Bo Olomu, the Customs Area Controller, the seized items were concealed in six containers.

Two containers were found to contain codeine syrup worth N2.71 billion falsely declared as water closet and toilet seats.

The seizure was made possible through international collaboration with the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Other seized items include pharmaceutical products without NAFDAC registration numbers, falsely declared as kitchen wares and tables, used clothing, and two stolen vehicles from Canada, declared as food items.

The NCS Apapa Command has also recorded a significant revenue collection, generating N1.09 trillion as of May 21, 2025. This achievement confirms the command’s trajectory of meeting and surpassing its targets.

The Customs Area Controller warned that Apapa Port will remain a no-go area for any unlawful activity, and officers are ready to uncover concealments and effect seizures or arrests where necessary.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the seizures and are at various stages of interrogation to face the full wrath of the law.

The NCS’s efforts to protect Nigerians from dangerous imports and its commitment to revenue collection demonstrate its dedication to serving the nation’s interests.
