USPF Secretary Commends ITU and UK-FCDO’s Partnership on Rural Connectivity

The Secretary of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), Yomi Arowosafe, has applauded the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (UK FCDO) for their collaborative efforts with the Nigerian government to enhance rural connectivity. This partnership aims to promote socio-economic development in the country.

At an Industry-Focused Stakeholders Engagement Session in Lagos, Arowosafe emphasized the importance of expanding inclusive connectivity.

He noted that the event’s theme, “Fostering Connectivity in Unserved and Underserved Communities: Collaborating for Sustainable Growth,” highlights the government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide.

The session was attended by key stakeholders, including the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, and the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Dr. Aminu Maida.

Arowosafe stressed that achieving sustainable connectivity requires strong partnerships among government, private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), development partners, and community leaders.

He encouraged participants to share their expertise and contribute to shaping outcomes that will strengthen Nigeria’s digital ecosystem and improve the lives of all Nigerians.
