Revenue Collection: Nigerian Customs Boss, Adeniyi Gets Presidential Recognition and Award

President Bola Tinubu has recognised the efforts of the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, with the prize of “Outstanding Revenue Collection” at the Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service (NEAPS).

Adeniyi received the prize, for his significant achievements in revenue generation, on Saturday, 6 July 2024, during a ceremony at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, representing President Tinubu, underscored the significance of the award in fostering a culture of recognition and reward in the public service.

He re-echoed the message that public institutions are not personal enterprises while emphasising that public servants are employees of the Nigerian people.

Adeniyi commended the President and NEAPS for the recognition stating that the award serves as a motivation for him to put in extra effort to support Nigeria’s economic growth through trade facilitation and revenue collection.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, urged the award recipients not to telent in their exemplary efforts noting that they were chosen chosen based on objective criteria from both the public and private sectors.

Recipients of the NEAPS Awards in Public Service include; Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Hadejia.

Others are; Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State.

Other recipients of the awards include; FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso, President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, former SGF Boss Mustapha, and Founder/Chairman of Zenith Bank Chief Jim Ovia.

NEAPS is a prestigious annual event organised to recognise and celebrate individuals who have distinguished themselves in public service.
