PTML Customs Command Holds Leadership Seminar for Senior Officers

The Port and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML) Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service organised a leadership seminar for its senior officers on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, aimed at strengthening leadership capacity, professionalism and teamwork.

The event took place at the Conference Hall of the PTML Command. It was convened in line with the vision of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, to build a more efficient, motivated and service-oriented workforce.

Acting Area Controller Deputy Comptroller Nura Ibrahim Miko opened the seminar. He stressed that effective leadership is essential to the Service’s core mandates of revenue generation, trade facilitation and the suppression of smuggling. Miko also reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to officers’ welfare, health and productivity, citing the recently launched Work-Life Balance Initiative.

Sessions covered strategic leadership, effective communication, decision-making, conflict management and ethical conduct. Miko delivered the opening lecture, titled “Leadership and Followership: Building a Culture of Collaboration and Excellence.”

He later praised participants for their engagement and urged them to apply the lessons to improve service delivery. Miko also reassured stakeholders and the trading community of the Command’s continued commitment to professionalism, transparency and ease of doing business.

Participants were drawn from the ranks of Chief Superintendent of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs.

A key highlight was the presentation of Certificates of Excellence to two officers: Assistant Comptroller J.O. Ezekuse, Officer-in-Charge of the Mile 2 Gate, and Chief Superintendent of Customs C.A. Ibrahim, Officer-in-Charge of the Legal Unit.

Miko encouraged all officers to maintain high standards of service, noting that the Command has mechanisms to recognise and reward diligence, selflessness and efficient performance.
