Leading financial institution, Fidelity Bank Plc, has upgraded learning and living conditions for children at Heritage Homes Orphanage in Anthony Village, Lagos, through a comprehensive corporate social responsibility intervention.
The initiative was carried out under the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP), the bank’s flagship employee-led corporate social responsibility scheme that enables staff to identify community projects, raise funds, and receive matching support from the bank for implementation.
The outreach, championed by the bank’s Audacious Class of newly inducted employees, addressed critical needs at the orphanage, including the replacement of damaged roofing and POP ceiling, fumigation of the facility, provision of food supplies, and payment of school fees for some of the children.
Speaking during the outreach, the Divisional Head, Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, said the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to empowering employees to make meaningful contributions to their communities.
According to him, the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme allows employees to devote their time, resources and talents to projects that improve lives, noting that the Audacious Class identified Heritage Homes Orphanage, assessed its needs and implemented interventions focused on infrastructure, welfare and education.
Nwagboh said the programme was designed to deliver sustainable impact, adding that the latest intervention has provided the children with a safer living environment, access to food supplies and continued education.
“We are delighted to be part of their journey. Today, these children have a secure roof over their heads, access to essential food supplies and the assurance that their education will continue,” he said.
The Assistant General Manager of Heritage Homes Orphanage, Irene Light, commended Fidelity Bank for what she described as a timely and life-changing intervention.
She said the bank renovated the orphanage’s roof, replaced the damaged POP ceiling, fumigated the facility, donated food items and paid the school fees of some of the children.
According to her, the support has restored hope and improved the living conditions of the children, while creating a safer and more conducive environment for their growth and development.
Fidelity Bank said the intervention aligns with its commitment to creating lasting value in communities through impactful corporate social responsibility initiatives.
