Yilwatda Salutes Workers, Reaffirms Tinubu’s Commitment to Labour Welfare

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has congratulated Nigerian workers on the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, praising their resilience and contributions to national development.

In a statement issued on his behalf by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda commended workers across all sectors for their patriotism, diligence, and sacrifices, describing them as the backbone of the country’s growth.

He particularly acknowledged the endurance shown by workers amid prevailing economic challenges, noting that their perseverance reflects the strength and character of Nigerians.

The APC chairman reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to policies and programmes that prioritise the welfare, dignity, and prosperity of the workforce. He described the President as a worker-friendly leader who recognises the vital role of labour in nation-building.

Yilwatda explained that ongoing economic reforms introduced by the administration are necessary steps aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth. He listed key measures such as the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of the foreign exchange system, increased infrastructure investment, expansion of social intervention programmes, and a renewed focus on industrialisation.

According to him, the reforms are designed to boost productivity, stabilise the economy, attract investments, and create employment opportunities. While admitting that the transition may pose short-term difficulties, he assured that the government is implementing targeted measures to cushion the effects on citizens.

He expressed confidence that the current reforms would lead to a more inclusive, resilient, and prosperous economy, stressing that the sacrifices of workers would ultimately yield positive outcomes.

The APC chairman also urged Nigerians to remain steadfast and united in support of the country’s development agenda, emphasising the need for collective effort in achieving national aspirations.

Yilwatda wished workers a fulfilling Workers’ Day celebration, praying for continued progress and prosperity for them and their families.
