NIMASA DG Commends Women’s Role in Maritime Industry Development

The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, has applauded the contributions of women to the growth and development of Nigeria’s maritime industry.

Mobereola gave the commendation in a goodwill message to mark the 2026 edition of International Women’s Day, themed “Give to Gain.”

He praised the strength, professionalism and resilience demonstrated by women across various segments of the maritime sector, noting that their contributions have continued to drive progress, innovation and sustainable growth within the industry.

According to him, women working in sea-going, regulatory, technical and administrative roles have played a significant role in advancing the sector.

“I celebrate your strength, expertise and invaluable contributions to our maritime industry,” he said, adding that the theme Give to Gain reflects the daily impact of women in the sector.

Mobereola explained that through professionalism, leadership and dedication, women in the maritime industry consistently contribute excellence, enabling the sector to record notable progress and innovation.

The NIMASA boss further commended the dedication and commitment of women in the industry and reaffirmed his support for initiatives that promote gender inclusion and empowerment.

He stated that the agency remains committed to fostering an environment where women can lead, grow and thrive within the maritime sector.

International Women’s Day is observed globally to highlight the achievements of women while drawing attention to challenges they continue to face.

The 2026 theme, “Give to Gain,” emphasises the need to invest in women through education, resources and mentorship, recognising that empowering women contributes to stronger economies, communities and workplaces.
