The Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) recently played host to the leadership of the Senior Staff Association of Shipping, Clearing & Forwarding Agency (SSASCFA) at its headquarters in Osho Drive, Olodo Apapa, Lagos.
During the meeting, the President-General of SSASCFA, Comrade Harrison Ugochukwu Asonye, commended MWUN’s President-General, Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, for his innovative leadership and the transformation of the Dockworkers.
Asonye expressed his desire to rekindle the longtime relationship between the two organisations, emphasising the importance of collaboration for operational efficiency.
Comrade Bunu welcomed the SSASCFA leadership and acknowledged the existing disconnect between the two arms of the shipping representation.
He proposed a synergy between MWUN and SSASCFA to unionise shipping outfits and strengthen industrial relations in the sector.
The MWUN President-General assured SSASCFA of his unwavering commitment and the Union’s support towards mutual benefits, progress, and development of the maritime industry.
He also promised to reciprocate the visit in the near future to further discuss areas of collaboration.
