Custom Protocol Officer Hands Over Truck Laden with 60,000 Litres of PMS to NMDPRA

The National Coordinator of Operation Whirlwind, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Kola Oladeji, has handed over a truck laden with 60,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

The handover ceremony took place at the Command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

The truck, with registration number NSR26ZL, was detained by the Kebbi Area Command pending investigation. Findings revealed that the product was originally designated for delivery in Borno State.

Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim, representing the National Coordinator, emphasised the importance of inter-agency collaboration in promoting transparency and accountability.

He stated that the exercise aligns with the vision and directive of the National Coordinator to strengthen partnerships and ensure proper handling of seized petroleum products.

Adamu Jamilu, representing NMDPRA, acknowledged receipt of the consignment and commended the Nigeria Customs Service for its efforts under Operation Whirlwind.

He noted that this is the second batch of trucks handed over to NMDPRA in Sokoto, with the first batch containing about 105,000 litres of PMS received on October 17, 2025.

The event concluded with the physical handover of the vehicle and documentation, further solidifying the synergy between the Nigeria Customs Service and NMDPRA in tackling petroleum smuggling and promoting national security.
